Al Khazneh

The Treasury, Petra, Jordan.

Indiana Jones went inside and found an ancient knight guarding the holy grail. I tried to go in and met with fences and a blank wall. There wasn't anything beyond the impressive facade of the famous Treasury (also known as Al Khazneh) at all. Hmm, hmmmmm! Although it was once believed to hide ancient treasures, it's now decided that it used to be a temple, or a royal tomb.

Dome Of The Rock

The Temple Mount, Jerusalem, Israel.

View of The Dome Of The Rock through a narrow gateway, known as the Cotton Gate (or the Cotton Merchants' Gate) in the Old City of Jerusalem. Errected around the 7th century AD, the Dome Of The Rock is an Islamic shrine and it stands on the Temple Mount, which is sacred to Jews, Muslims and Christians.

The Forbidden City

Beijing, China.

This was taken during a brief visit to the world's largest palace complex on a cool spring day in March 2004. I wanted to see it again in the summer of 2007 but...ooh, the crowds! It looked like the entire 1.3 billion population of China was out in force queuing for tickets, and so we gave up that opportunity.
